What precisely is this rendering I behold?

What do you mean? That’s not Jesus?

Well, the beating of children stuck in a basket with reeds is, of course, traditional Christian holiday fare. But I am fairly sure, that no, that’s not Jesus but the apostle James the Beloved. Jesus’ tail has pretty plumage like a peacock.
You’ve read the bible! You should know this!

I feel like I remember reading that James the Beloved had horns like a ram, rather than an ibex.

Oh, no–and is that German text?

Yes, I believe it translates to either “Seasons Greetings from the Krampus!” or “Deliver your wicked children to the Krampus!”
The Krampus: Proof that it was never once fun to be a child in Austria.
