I like how delicately drawn the female character’s features are—they belie her bone-dry, lack of enthusiasm for the superhero character’s abilities; it sort of reminds me of Peter Chung’s work. Rosebud features housing storylines of wicked humor. Perfect contrast to the wide-eyed, “superhero” lead.
It took a couple of pages before I realized Tommy’s wide-eyed (and often cartoonish) expressions needed to be contrasted by the people around him. Just wait until he has to interact with thugs. After that, it got to be a lot of fun to draw Tommy.
Yes, I get to draw thugs.
